VISITOR UPDATE: In light of the current situation regarding COVID-19, we are closed to the public and plan to re-open on August 1st.

Behind the scenes, we are working hard to get The Bug Farm ready for your safe, socially-distanced visit from August 1st (if the situation remains the same as it is now).

We will be sharing more details of how to visit us here, in this pinned post, and on our website as an when the information is available.

FAQ’s

-What will your opening hours be?
Provided that the situation doesn’t change, we will open daily from August 1st 10:30 am – 4:30 pm for August and then Thursday-Sunday 10:30 am – 4:30 pm for September.

-Will we have to book in advance?
Possibly – TBC. We will let you know as soon as we are able to answer this!

-What will be different to our last visit?
We will be operating strict social distancing measures throughout the site. We will ask you to queue outside the Ticket Office, with one designated person per family bubble coming in to pay when the bell rings! Please be aware that you will be queuing outside, in the elements! You will be talked through your visit on arrival so that you feel safe and secure. There will be fewer people onsite, with strict maximum numbers set for rainy and non-rainy days. We will ask all visitors to respectfully wear face coverings in all indoor areas and time spent in each of the indoor areas will be limited (though of course you can go around for a second time). We are exited to tell you that we have two brand-new indoor exhibits and a new outdoor trail. You will notice that there aren’t any bits and bobs around to pick-up/touch so that we can make our regular disinfecting more efficient.

-Will our season tickets/vouchers be extended? Yes, of course! We will add on 5 months to all season tickets and vouchers that expired during lockdown. However, as this is a tough time for us financially, if you wish to support us you are more than welcome to still renew your season ticket.

-Will you be running ‘Up-Close Meet the Bugs’ sessions? No, not to start with. However, as we find our ‘new normal’, we will aim to phase these popular sessions back in (though they may run a little differently).

-Will Grub Kitchen be open during our visit?
Yes – Grub Kitchen will be offering food. However, the menu will be in a takeaway format until at least August 3rd. More info coming soon.

Opening hours are constantly updated on the Opening Times page and also on our Facebook page.
