Marsh Fritillary Reintroduction

Marsh fritillary butterflies went extinct on the St Davids peninsula in 2013 and, since then, we have been working to bring them back. In 2026, we are carrying out Wales’s first marsh fritillary introduction.

Project Overview

In 2020, we started on a long-term nature recovery project to bring back the locally-extinct marsh fritillary butterfly back to the St Davids peninsula, a butterfly that had been extinct on the peninsula since 2013.
