Nature Hut

Head to the Nature Hut for games, crafts and learning. This zone is especially for our smaller (human) visitors. What will you discover? Suitable for ages 3 – 7.

St Davids Pollinator Trail

Year round

A celebration of the wonderful world of insect pollinators. Hunt for interpretation boards, pollinators and artwork at 18 sites around the St Davids peninsula. Pick up a map and spotter guide from The Bug Farm or download one from the St Davids Pollinator Trail page
Answer all the bug brain teasers to be entered into a prize draw. A great, free activity for all the family.

Bert’s Garden: meet the author

Sat 27 Oct, 2 – 3:30pm
£2 per person (includes bug house). Normal admission applies

Come and celebrate the launch of Bert’s Garden, the latest title in the Celestine and the Hare series by Karin Celestine. A heart-warming story about Bert and his beetle friends, this book gives a charming insight into garden ecology for children. Join us for a reading by the author, book signing, plus make your own bug house to take home.
Suitable for ages 5+. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Drop-in mosaic workshops

£5 per mosaic. Normal admission applies. Suitable for all ages

Get creative with local mosaic artist Maddie Janes. You will design and create your own mosaic using beautiful items from Maddie’s treasure trove!

Clay bug workshops

Fri 28 Dec
1:15-2:15pm and 2:30-3:30pm
£5 per bug. Normal admission applies. Suitable for ages 6+

Ceramic artist Nadia Bowie will help you create and paint a friendly, colourful bug all of your own using air-drying clay.

Up-Close sessions

Every day that we are open
£1.50 per person. All children (3 – 15) must be accompanied by at least one paying adult.
Normal admission applies

Meet the bugs in our very popular Up-Close sessions. You will first learn a little bit about our favourite bugs and then it’s time for you to hold them! All Up-Close sessions are aimed at adults and children alike. From September 2018 – March 2019 Up-Close sessions run at 12pm, 2pm and 3pm. Each session lasts approx. 30 minutes.

Bumblebee ID training

Bumblebee Conservation Trust: Volunteers wanted!

Interested in bumblebees and wildlife? Keen to help? We are holding an afternoon tea to tell people a bit more about the Bumblebee Conservation Trust and opportunities for volunteering.

The event is free to attend. However, if you would also like to look around The Bug Farm, we are offering discounted entry of £4.50, as we would usually be closed to the public on the day of the event.

Who is your lucky ant? Our St David’s Day ant lottery sees our leafcutter ants swap their leaves for mini dragons, daffodils and leeks! Pick your Welsh symbol; the first one to get home to the nest wins a prize.

Art exhibitions

The sea from within

September to November – This exhibition may be over, but we are now selling pieces from the show in our Shop.

The exhibition was a celebration of Pembrokeshire sea life by photographer and marine biologist Dr Lou Luddington. The stunning images were shot in natural light and those taken underwater were captured on a single breath of air.
